Twitter flags tiny.ly as spammy or unsafe content

I’m not sure why. I guess URL shorteners are often used for nefarious purposes, but it’s hardly something they are in control of. Anyway I don’t use tiny.ly very much any more, I tweet my Download Central updates using Twitter’s own shortener. For updates on other sites (like Asteroids now, which was when I noticed) I’ll either post the URL full length or find something else.

As I said, I have no idea why Twitter does that. The Social Media Dudes, EndPoynt, and a few others blogged about it two weeks ago, but didn’t give a reason either. If you come across one of my old tweets and get the warning, just ignore it.
